3:15 wake up look at Alarm, go back to bed.
4:38 wake up look at Alarm, Rollover yet AGAIN.
5:30 the Alarm FINALLY goes off and I get up to go warm up.
6:30 Check in at the City Center and get number and t-shirt
6:55 start lining up for the race
7:00 the gun goes off the race begins.
7:41 I finish my first 5k!

I can't portray the amount anxiety I had in me, prior to my first race. I kept talking myself in and out of the race weeks and weeks before even though I had been training and everything I had been doing was for this race. Well the gunshot when off and I had to run no matter what and all my anxiety was left behind me at the start line. I picked up my feet and ran as fast and as long as I could.

All I knew for the race is that I just wanted to finish it. I was never going for a good time. But once I got out there of course my competitive edge got the best of me. I didn't and I mean DIDN'T want to be in the back so I had to keep my pace up. No matter what I tried to keep at a running pace, no walking unless it was an absolute dieing must!

As I pulled into the finish line I was over come with joy! I could see my whole family cheering me on. I really needed that at the end. My whole body was filled with emotion I couldn't help but cry. I cried, as I turned that last bend into the finish line, seeing my family there just did it for me. The emotion of finishing my first race and having everyone there cheering me on felt like the greatest day ever!

Me coming around the bend to the finish line.
I think I was dieing at this point.
Crying like a baby, that would be why my head is down.

Almost there!!!!
Me after the race with my awesome number 937!
And this is what conspires while I am gone, Dad dresses Aleksandra. I guess she got to be like a penguin for a little bit. And I take it this means Mike needs to dress Aleksandra more.

  1. yay Hollie!! Nice work! I totally know that waking up every 15 minutes anticipation of a race. You did awesome! Way to stick to a goal and finish it. You look great, by the way. My only advice is to find another race to train for. I always tell myself that I'll only take a couple days off after a race, and then all of a sudden it's been 2 months and I have to start from square one with the training again. I'm so proud of you! All of the training is totally worth the feeling of accomplishment at the end.
